I am using my PSR 500-Keyboard, CakewalkPro and OrchestratorPlus to catch my inspirations on my harddisk. :)

The advantage of MIDII-Files is the low filesize. MIDI-Files may include a lot of parameters like controller settings e.g.:: reverb, chorus, velocity, dynamic keystroke, modulation etc.

The disadvantage of MIDI-Files ist that you are limited to GENERAL MIDI - instruments. But some soundcards are able to put your own samples in a certain memory called SoundFontBank (SBK). That means you put your own samples on the position for the usual instrument, but it doesn`t play the GM-Sounds. It plays your own samples. You can see your creativity has no limit !
