Costumes

I own just two costumes right now but I will buy more as soon as i can afford. The two costumes that I have I bought from a swedish catalog shop on the internet. They were cheap and not very much to brag about, but at least I have them and use them. Now let me introduce you to my two characters.

Daniel dog

Daniel dalmatian says he is though and likes to chase children telling them if they pull his tail again he'll bite their legs off. On the inside he is a bit shy and carefull. He is the most famous of my two characters. He has made an apperance on local TV that he is very proud of. He has also participated in a redcross childrens party and on a skiing competition.

Hi there!Hedgehog

I played this hedgehog on a childrens party. The costume belongs to an insurance company, I would like to find out who made him. He was really loved by the children. This was a real ”American” style mascot BIG, heavy and WARM! It was alot of fun to play him. I would like to have a fullbody costume with a large head, it makes you more mysterious and realistic.

Rex

Rex is a dinosaur (hmm) I have not had the chance to get to know him yet because I have not played him. Both the dalmatian costume and the dinosaur costume where very cheap around 100$ they are of course ”cookie cutters” (massproduced).

Well theese are my costumes for now. I have been planning to purchase a costume from marylen.com a company that makes and sell animal costumes etc. They have very reasonable prices but the shippment fee is over 200 US DOLLAR so it will have to wait some time. Marylens costumes have very high quality and they have more than 5000 different costumes to choose from! I really want to give them credit for their nice service I mailed them a few times and always got an answer!

This summer I have had the pleasure to work as different mascot characters in various places. Here they are.

This dog is the mascot of one of Finlands largest newspapers (Iltalehti). I got to act as him for a while on a childrens sporting event (Lasten Olympialaiset) This was a very expensive costume. It was real fun. (Hopeing that I get to act as him next year).

This is Mr. Pete Pepsodent the Toothpaste mouse. He belongs to an internationall toothpaste company. This was a so called inflateable suit wich means that there is a fan inside the costume powered by batteries blowing air into the suit. Unforunatley the batteries were so poor that I only got to act as him for half an hour. (Baloon)

Here we have the famous Henri Hippo. He is the mascot of a bank here in Finland (Andelsbanken) (Osuuspankki) I organized a couple of mascots for the annual comunity festivity day (Krombi-Dan) Click the thumb for more pictures and details

Now this guy you all know so I am not going to go into any details about him. I rented the costume and was paid for acting him. This costume was made by an amateur but it was Ok

Here are some more pictures of dogs! Grrr VOV!Agreement

How to get into costume?

Just ask around, that is the best way to end up in costume. Call local shops if they would need a furry critter. Make yerself heard! Where I live it is pretty unusual with mascots. That has both a dark and a bright side to it. The bright side is that I have the cake almost by myself. The dark side is that people do not think they need a furry critter around.

I recommend that you call around and be very active in your search. Be ready to supply your own costumes. BE POSITIVE!
